This collection of black and whites are dedicated to Ted Wahlfeld. The proprietor of “The Mill” in Peoria Illinois. He gave me a grand tour and allowed me to photograph through my eyes. These are my historical interpretations of the historical wood mill. The building is currently in use by artists of all media.

I love this photo.

The composition is indeed remarkable. The harmony of colors is expertly achieved, creating a visual balance that both captivates and engages the viewer's mind. This thoughtful use of black and white not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also invites deeper contemplation about its purpose and meaning.

“Elevator Time Portal”

It's good to see these photos in a historical context. The freight elevator draws you in but doesn't feel welcoming. This unique photo elevator experience by Ketcham transforms a simple ride into a journey through mystery, emotions and time. It feels like a time capsule.

“The Door to No Where”

Your are wondering where does this door go? Why is it up so high? Did the floor fall out from beneath it? The answer is that it is a fire door used when the Mill was in production.

Empty elevator with wooden walls and ceiling, and a wooden floor, seen from the inside.

“Freight Elevator and Forgotten Broom”

The elevator is currently in use. It’s the primary mode of transportation to move about the building. The fire door is in plain view showing how it would close in case of a fire. This building is so large that I am sure the person who was using the broom can’t fine it!

A large old brick wall with a big window that has multiple panes and a weathered wooden frame. There are small objects, including a vase, on the windowsill, and a garden hose connected to an outdoor faucet on the left side of the wall.

“The Lost Atrium”

In the central core of The Mill is a lost space. Windows don’t look out to the sunshine but onto another brick wall. Doors appear out of no where, their function and use forgotten. See “The Door to No Where”
